Xinhua

Xinhua News Agency ( Chinese: 新華社 ,新华社, pinyin Xīnhuáshè , literally: “New China Agency”) is the official news agency of the government of the People's Republic of China (PRC) and the largest center for information and press conferences in China.

History

Xinhua News Agency was established in November 1931 as the Red News Agency of China. Since 1937 it has had its current name.

In 1944, international broadcasting in English began.

Xinhua's headquarters were located in Beijing.

Today, news from Xinhua is distributed in many countries in Asia, the Middle East, Latin America and Africa, where its offices are located. There are more than one hundred Xinhua branches.

Xinhua covers news around the world in seven languages, including Chinese, English, French, Russian, Spanish, Arabic and Japanese, and also maintains news feeds, etc.
