Chapter 1
Introduction
Start spotting scams
Let’s help you avoid painful rug pulls
I want to thank you for getting this copy that will help you spot and
avoid Web 3 scams.
I really appreciate the support.
However, I have to say it’s a shame that something like this is even
needed. Web3 - and all it brings to the table - is supposed to break the
control centralised establishments have over the average person.
I have to say that, on the whole, we’re seeing great progress here.
Artists are taking hime a larger percentage of the sale from their work
and actually getting a living wage.
DeFi enthusiasts are getting more control over where their money goes
and discovering inventive ways to increase their investment’s value.
New brands are building communities that are helping shape the future
of their organisation thanks to decentralised governance.
It’s an exciting time to be in the world of online business. And yet,
there’s always an underside to these things. A dark underworld inhabited by
the unscrupulous and greedy.
Every day there’s a new story detailing how a founder, influencer, or
simple hacker is robbing the average person of their investments.
Funds, exchanges, projects, and campaigns totalling millions of dollars
are disappearing into the decentralised web never to be found again.
And it’s people like you and I that are left out of pocket.
I hate it. I hate that people are taking advantage of this new approach to
collaboration and growth for their own selfish gains.
I’m not surprised, but I am determined to do something about it.
This book is my attempt to help the average person spot scams and
avoid them. And every person who joins us in trying to starve the scammers
of unsuspecting victims leads to a safer future for us all.
This short guide should help arm you against the scum of Web3 and
ensure you’re better positioned to avoid the common scams.
Before we get into the actual meat of the information, I want to take a
second to cover a few of the basics.
