Forestry

Forestry is a branch of the economy whose functions include: study and accounting of forests, their reproduction, protection from fires, pests and diseases, regulation of forest use, control over the use of forest resources.

Classification of forms of forestry

Classifications of forms of forestry are compiled according to economic, natural history and technical characteristics. Forestry is divided into continuous and periodic (in which the entire area occupied by forest is cut down every few years when the forest reaches a mature state).

In addition, the farm is divided into high-trunk, low-trunk and medium-trunk. High-stem forestry is called forestry, which includes plantings grown from seeds, in which each tree is used once and at the site of felling the next generation of trees grows by seed. In a low-trunk farm, each tree capable of producing shoots repeatedly participates in the formation of subsequent plantings grown in the same area. If the plantings consist of both seed and coppice trees, clearly separated by size and age, then such forestry is called medium.

Forest management

Today there is a lot of research devoted to the management of forest ecosystems and genetic improvement of tree varieties. Forest management also includes the development and improvement of methods for planting, protection, thinning, fire control, cutting, extraction and processing of wood. One of the areas of modern forest management is reforestation, during which trees are planted and cared for in a certain area.

In many regions, forest management is of great environmental, economic and social importance. The system of independent assessment appeared in response to criticism of the then forest management, which often led to deforestation. In forested areas, properly functioning forest management is important to prevent or minimize soil erosion and landslides. In areas prone to landslides, forests can stabilize soils and prevent property and human losses.
