Open Mindedness
“The measure of intelligence is the ability to change.” – Albert Einstein
“Those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything.”
― George Bernard Shaw
“A mind is like a parachute. It doesn't work if it is not open.”   - Frank
Zappa

“When my information changes, I alter my conclusions. What do you
do, sir?”
― John Maynard Keynes
If anyone asks me, what has changed your life the most? I would answer,
open  mindedness.
I was the most closed minded person when I was young.  Until I met my
best friend Frank.
Our first argument was about religion, and why we shouldn’t indoctrinate
young children.  I believe that if we indoctrinate young children, we take
away their freedom to choose a certain religion, because we have
brainwashed their way into a religion.  Frank argued that indoctrinating
children is what each parent is doing, religion is just one of the ways
parents do it.  Each of our parents raises us with a certain degree of
indoctrination for certain beliefs they have, and we all turned out okay.
At that time, I did not agree with him, and our argument got so heated and
almost turned into a shouting match.  Although later on I learned that he
doesn’t believe in indoctrination of children into a religion, and  was
playing the devil’s advocate. At that point, I knew I wasn’t being open
minded, and I was dead-lock on believing I was right about not
indoctrinating a child.
It doesn’t matter who is correct in the argument. The problem is that there is
nothing he says or evidence he brings that can change my mind. I was close
minded.
Being open minded, is humble, wise, and life changing to say the least.
Let’s begin by explaining what open mindedness really means.
Open mindedness, according to Albert Einstein is the ability to change.
One would think, everyone possesses the ability to change.  Yes, I agree,
superficially, everyone “seems” to be able to change.  However, if  we
examine this question closely, everyone is extremely unlikely to change.
