Chapter 1
The First Money Villain
“Take time to deliberate; but when the time for action
arrives, stop thinking and go in.”
— ANDREW JACKSON
et’s get this out of the way right now… In the game of money, the
cards are stacked against you.
Most of us are playing the game on the hardest level, and haven’t yet
learned the rules of the game.
Most of us owe more debt than we have savings. And very few are certain
of where they’re headed financially, or if/when they’re going to finally win
the money game so they don’t have to play anymore.
Whether it’s our parents, the baby boomers’ generation, the millennials, or
generation Z, everyone is in the same boat when it comes to their
understanding of the money game.

To play well and win the money game, you need to be acquainted with the
playing field and know who is against you. If you continue to heed the trite
advice that doing well in academia and having a job is enough, you’ll
perhaps never win at this game.

Gone are the days when people could rely on their jobs, careers,
salaries, and promotions. In the past, perhaps it was more common to retire
at a certain age and enjoy a decent standard of living.
Our grandparents had it easy. They lived with a particular mindset that
worked for them to an extent. They enjoyed modest thrills and modest
worries.
