Пожилая супружеская пара едет из провинции в Токио навестить детей: сына, ставшего доктором, и дочь, открывшую салон красоты. Дети слишком заняты, поэтому отсылают родителей на курорт. После бессонной ночи на шумном курорте родители возвращаются в Токио. Перед тем как уехать, мать проводит ночь со вдовой другого сына, а отец встречается со своими старыми собутыльниками. Выходит так, что только вдова сына оказывает старикам достойный прием с любовью и вниманием, которые им так нужны.
