It turns out that even in the most expensive cities in the world there are many ways to spend time for free, and at the same time get acquainted with the local culture. Swimming pools, beaches, theaters, museums, festivals - and this is not a complete list of opportunities. We chose some cool options in Europe, the US, Asia and even Africa.

The Bangkok Folk Museum, Thailand

The museum is located in two small houses built during the Second World War. Actually, this period of the country's history (the war and the first post-war years) is devoted to the exposition of the museum. The houses have preserved furniture and personal belongings of their first owners.

National Museum of Ireland, Dublin

This museum houses 4 million exhibits telling about the archeology, arts and crafts and nature of Ireland in different historical periods. There is even a skeleton of an extinct Irish deer.

The More London Free FestivalLondon

This festival takes place every year and lasts for 4 months (summer + September). All events at The More London Free Festival take place on the south bank of the River Thames, at The Scoop, which is an underground amphitheater. Each month - thematic dedicated to one type of art - music, cinema, theater, etc.

The Djemaa el-Fna square, Marrakech, Morocco

Once the main square of Marrakech was a place of public executions, and now it has become not only a shopping, but also a cultural center of the city. After sunset, it looks like both a circus arena, a giant restaurant, and an open-air cinema. Here you can see snake tamers, gnahua dancers and even scorpion fights, taste boiled snails and drink freshly squeezed fruit juice.

Flea Market in Brooklyn (Brooklyn Flea Market), USA

The market appeared only in 2008, but has already managed to become one of the main features of New York and get into the top of the best flea markets in the world. It is located in the building of the former bank, as well as on the adjacent site. Furniture, posters of the 1930s, records, vintage clothes, jewelry and even great, paintings, different variants of handmade – a million gizmos with the smell of history. True, to call a trip to Brooklyn Flea a free event is blasphemy, be sure to take a couple of dozen bucks with you.

Gardens by the BaySingapore

The futuristic garden is located on the shores of Marina Bay. It is a complex of attractions, among which are several greenhouses, water gardens and a park with giant trees and a suspended road between them. To see everything, you need to pay about € 17, but the entrance to the park with giant trees is free. And every evening from 19:45 to 20:45 there is a light and music show: trees are painted with different lights that "dance" to the music. You can watch the show for free.
