Ranking of Central American countries by interestingness

Rating of central American capitals

1. Panama is the most interesting capital, with a beautiful historical center, a long promenade with a gorgeous view of the ocean. But the most interesting thing here is the business center with an incredible number of skyscrapers. Panama City is more interesting than all the other capitals of Central America combined. It is worth spending as much as a whole week here, including a tour of the nearest suburbs. And in general, in such a city it is not bad to live, having ever arranged a house for everyone here.

2. The second place is shared by Guatemala (in the country of Guatemala) and San José (in Costa Rica). Both of these cities are really interesting - they have a large number of old architecture of the colonial type, interesting modern buildings, pedestrian streets, pretty parks. Minus Guatemala only - it is very criminal, and there you should be extremely careful. These cities are worth spending 2-3 days.
San Jose city (44 photos).

The best country in the

region is Costa Rica. Overall I liked it the most. The purest, the least criminal, the richest. There's a lot here. whites, not just Indians. Lots of smart faces on the streets. In Costa Rica, just awesome nature - the whole country, yes, yes, everything - one continuous park: what is a settlement, what is beyond it - bananas, palm trees, flowers, jungle. Everything blooms and smells. Roads in mountain serpentines, cozy beaches on both oceans - the Pacific and the Atlantic. Nice country.

Panama City is very interesting and Panama Country is average. There are good places, but there are a lot of completely uninteresting monotonous landscapes. But it deserves a visit, mainly due to nature, because the country's provincial cities are gray and dull.

I spent the most time in Nicaragua. It is not the most criminal in the region, you can live, but at the same time it is averagely interesting in general. There are good noteworthy places here, but not much. Country for one visit.

Guatemala - there are very interesting individual points of attraction, to which all visitors to the country rush (like the pyramids of Tikal, Flores, Atitlan, Antigua), and the usual towns and villages of the country are gray and primitive. If you follow strictly the tourists, then Guatemala will seem very interesting, if you circle the republic in detail - then everything will not be so obvious.

I'll also mention Mexico. It is also partly Central America. But I traveled through it not this time, but on my previous visit to the continent in 2013. So, Mexico is cooler than all the small countries of Central America combined. Mexico is one of the most interesting countries in the world, unlike those states that were discussed in this article. Although they, of course, are interesting. And a third of the year spent on adventures in Central America will be remembered for a long time.
